Grid+

The Curvlinear Grid builder for EFDC+

Grid Editing

Grid+ is purpose-built for hydrodynamic modelers, offering a comprehensive suite of tools that support an iterative, efficient grid-building workflow. Whether constructing a new grid from scratch or importing an existing EFDC+ or third-party model grid, Grid+ provides everything you need to refine, smooth, telescope, and fit your model domain to real-world boundaries — then seamlessly export it for use in EE or other modeling tools.

Maintain I, J Map

Grid+ can import an existing EFDC+ model grid, apply targeted edits, and write the entire model back out while preserving its original structure. As long as changes don’t alter the model’s maximum I or J dimensions (IC and JC in EFDC+), you can iteratively improve grid orthogonalization or refine your land boundary fit without regenerating the model from scratch each time.

Import Grids

Grid+ supports import of 2D curvilinear orthogonal grids from a wide range of models and formats, with immediate visualization of key attributes — including orthogonal deviation, cell size, and spatial coordinates — to assess grid quality before making changes.

Edit Grids

A full set of editing tools gives you precise control over your model grid: add, delete, or deactivate cells; reposition nodes; coarsen or refine resolution; regularize geometry; apply telescoping; and fit the grid to complex land boundaries.

Export Grids

Export your finished grid directly for use in EFDC+, load it into EFDC Explorer (EE) for further configuration, or output to any of the supported formats recognized by other major modeling tools.
