Temporally and Spatially Varying Fields
EEMS10 now has the ability to simulate spatially and temporally varying fields, such as a wind or barometric pressure fields. EFDC+ can receive time varying forcings within its computational domain from external sources in the form of ASCII or binary files. An example of this can be seen in this simulation of Florida Bay which has been configured to use measured wind and pressure fields, as well as measured tidal levels, during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. A new Time Varying Field (TVF) data format is designed to bridge EFDC+ with other data facilities or numerical models. Other available options for using TVFs include Bathymetry (e.g., dredging/dumping, land erosion/reclamation, subsidence); Bottom Roughness (e.g., seasonal variations); Vegetation; Seepage/Groundwater flow; Wind field (e.g., hurricane); Barometric pressure (e.g., hurricane); Rainfall; Evaporation; Wind sheltering; Solar radiation shading; Ice thickness; and SEDZLJ erosion rate multiplier and exponent.
You may have noticed that we are excited about all the changes happening with EEMS. Over the past 15+ years, we have been working diligently to provide a user-friendly software that provides efficient and technically accurate models to the water modeling community. We are committed to continuing the development of this software with your needs in mind. In order to remain competitive while still retaining the quality that you deserve, we will be raising our prices on EEMS. These new rates will go into effect on 1 October 2019.
